If you haven’t visited the National Vietnam Veterans Museum and you live in the Bass Coast Shire, here is your opportunity. Free entry for the day. This is our way of thanking the local community for their support, so don’t forget to put this date in your diary.
There is plenty for the whole family to see and do. Have a look at the holographic Light & Sound Show which gives an overview of the Vietnam War with the causes and consequences. Walk through the Museum and see the interactive audio visual displays. Have a look at our latest exhibits. The well-known Wonthaggi Woodcrafters will have wooden model kits for kids to make up and purchase.
Some models will be in the shape of the Canberra Bomber, the Huey helicopter and the Centurion Tank. Face painting and Mini Golf are among the other activities available. At the entrance to the museum, kids will be able to register as an NVVM Investigator and follow the clues to discover the secrets of the museum. They will be presented with their very own Certificate with their name on it, on completion of the quest. There will be plenty of volunteers to ask if you get stuck.
A guided tour of the museum workshop will be one of the highlights of the day. This area is usually off limits to the public. Members of our restoration team will be available to conduct tours and ask questions about current restoration projects, including the restoration of the Canberra Bomber.
Doors will open at 10am – 4pm.
The Nui Dat Cafe will be open for delicious snacks and great coffee.
